Favorite Things - Week of Sept 4th
It has been a busy last couple of months as we have continued getting more settled into life in Colorado, trying to take full advantage of the long summer days and explore as much as possible. Here are a few of my favorite things from this past week and really the past few weeks.
Bumps and kicks, I have started showing more the past couple of weeks and have also started to feel the baby kick a little bit this week which has been fun and exciting! While I’ve started experiencing more aches and pains and sleeping has become less comfortable and more difficult all in all I’ve continued to feel pretty good and while getting used to my changing body is weird it is pretty amazing to watch as things change as the female body is pretty amazing.
This tour of Nancy Meyer’s home is absolutely stunning, love her style so much it is 100% my dream home goals! I also really liked this house tour I came across recently via Half Baked Harvest, I used to love the Studio McGee look but more recently have been gravitating towards a more traditional aesthetic.
Elk traffic jams and sunset hikes - I was on my way into Evergreen the other night to meet up with a girls hiking group and found myself stopped in a good bit of traffic for such a small town. At first I was a little annoyed thinking I was going to be late to the meet up, that was until I realized the hold up was due to elk in the road. I thought to myself, it is kind of hard to be mad or annoyed with the elk, if I must sit in traffic I would certainly pick that as the reason over anything else I can think of.
Chief Mountain - We have gone on some pretty great hikes over the past few weeks and Chief Mountain was a fun short one we did after work one night recently that had some incredible views
Our other favorite hike recently was in St. Mary Glacier up towards James Peak. This is probably my #1 favorite Colorado hike we have done so far. I told Matt throughout the hike that parts reminded me New Zealand, parts reminded me of El Chalten and if I can make those comments multiple times throughout a hike in the US it is a good hike!
Curly Cuts & the first fall like day - yesterday I had my first haircut done by someone who actually specializes in curly hair! Crazy I’ve waited 33 years to consider embracing my natural curls a little more. Overall was pretty happy with it and going to start trying to style it curly a little more often. And on top of that it actually felt like fall to the point I changed into a sweater, leggings and uggs, lit a candle and made soup and grilled cheese for dinner! Now we just need to stock up on some firefood for the season and we should be good to go. I always longed for Fall in North Carolina but it usually didn’t actually come for about 4-6 weeks after I wanted it to so am pretty excited about the change of seasons starting soon after Labor day and really looking forward to some of the fun weekend trips we have planned over the next few weeks in what should be peak fall times in Aspen, Breckenridge and Banff Canada.
Rosenburg’s Bagels and a lazy Saturday - Rosenburg’s bagels has been on our list of Denver places to try for a while now and we finally made it this morning. Have to say that it did live up to the hype and hit the spot quite perfectly this morning! We were supposed to do a hike we have been looking forward to in the Brainard lakes area today but it was going to be in the 40s, cloudy and raining possibly even snowing in parts of the mountains so we opted out and said we will try again in a few more weeks. While we were bummed that hike didn’t work out we haven’t had many lazy days since moving to Colorado we have been trying to get out and explore as much as possible and we have a busy few weeks ahead of us so it was a nice change of pace to relax on the sofa, cuddle with the pups, watch some football and work on some blog posts today.
