Favorite Things - Week of June 13th

  • Wow talk about a jammed packed week… I started the week off with my first ultrasound on Monday and confirmed the pregnancy and heard the heartbeat. While we have been excited about our recent news things really started to sink in driving home after this appointment. We are going to have a BABY come January!

  • A few clothing items that I’ve been eyeing recently, probably won’t purchase many of these because I want to be really strategic about clothing spend that is maternity friendly over the next couple of months but a few fun pieces.

  • One of the things we were most looking forward to with out move our west is the ability to get outdoors and hike on weeknights after work. So we were super excited to get out on our first weeknight hike this past Tuesday! It feels so good, is a great way to decompress after a stressful day and with working east coast hours we can get to the trails early enjoy the longer afternoons and evenings and just overall feel like work takes up a smaller portion of our day and we have more control over how we spend our time. This isn’t completely true, we still work the same number of hours but the shift in time of day is kind of a like a mind trick that feels much more fun!

  • We are making progress getting settled into our new place and while it is a rental house and not exactly our ideal choice for everything I am really loving our new bedroom and kitchen. The bedroom is a fresh white with great natural light and the kitchen has a lot of good storage and better layout of workspace than our kitchen in Charlotte.

  • My Morning Matcha - after traveling a lot of my first trimester and struggling with being able to have good quality healthy good available throughout each day and coffee not feeling great I have so much enjoyed setting up my simply real health inspired bevvy cabinet and enjoying my morning matcha that brings me joy, and feels so good!

  • Expecting Better book by Emily Oster, I’ve just finished up the first trimester portion of the book and so far have really enjoyed it.

  • Daydreaming (or stressing) about what travel will be like with a baby, I have no idea if we will actually pull it off or not but I really want to do a trip with the baby towards the end of my maternity leave next spring. Hopefully somewhere warm and tropical to escape from the long Colorado winter for a week or so before going back to work.

  • Jim’s latest blog post about parenting really resonated this week as we are starting to wrap our heads around being parents. We also tried a new Church in Colorado that we unfortunately didn’t love and it made me really miss Mecklenburg Community Church. We do have another one in the area in mind to try soon that I am excited about!

  • We spent the day Saturday in RMNP and very much enjoyed being back in the big mountains, seeing the snowcaps and escaping the summer heat of Denver for the day!
