Favorite Things - Week of Jan 9th
My new water bottle, I was influenced by the everygirl on this one and so far am really liking it. I really like drinking out of a metal straw (I ordered those separately) and like that the lid keeps the dog hairs out of my water which is kind of a big deal in our house!
This climate article about reasons to stay hopeful about the environment this year. I really struggle with the fear and anxiety of what is happening to our planet. I love travel, hiking and experiencing the beautiful world that God gave us and it makes me so sad to know that we are destroying it on a daily basis. And while a lot of good work is being done in the climate space I worry that it is too little too late. So it is nice and refreshing to read an article with a more positive perspective.
Another climate article that specific to Chile and how some of their natural resources are in jeopardy because of the increased demand for electric vehicles. As someone passionate about the climate crisis that is also planning to travel to Chile soon and in the market for an electric vehicle I found this very interesting.
My husband and I spent Friday night at one of our favorite Charlotte breweries brainstorming where we hope to travel in 2022. Our plans through May of 2022 are already set and we are just hopeful that we will be able to pull those off knowing the covid situation and travel requirements are constantly changing. But that unknown isn’t going to stop us from thinking ahead to the rest of the year as well. Since we didn’t get up to Canada over New Years we are thinking we may try to use our travel credits over the summer, likely around August and then also see if we could pull off a Switzerland trip later into the fall, likely early October. More to come but in the meantime I’ll be dreaming of views like these…
5. This decor article by Alaina from The Every Mom, the article is around decor trends for 2022 but considering I don’t have any plans for major updates to our place anytime soon I honestly found myself just enjoying the inspiration photos (sources are all linked).
6. Lunchtime walks w Matt & the pups and a SNOW day!! One of my favorite things about working from home is taking a midday break and walking around our neighborhood at lunch time. It is one of those little things that I really enjoy and since Matt has been recovering from knee surgery it has become something we do together and sometimes with the pups. And beyond that this week were even treated to something super special which is a snow day in North Carolina! It has been several years since we have had one and the last time we did he was traveling for work so we enjoyed playing with the pups and walking around in the snow together.
7. Can’t stop thinking about this jenni kayne jacket! It is pricey and by no means a must have right now but I can’t stop thinking about it and am afraid when I do want to buy it a year from now it won’t be available… also I love everything else on her site but can’t bring myself to pay that much for most of the items. I also really like this free people one that comes in a ton of fun colors
8. Tortellini soup (I usually add some sausage to it), Enchiladas or Banana Muffins and a fire on a cold day, we had all three of these this week and are some of my favorite recipes that I make pretty frequently.
9. This Eco friendly apparel article from The Good Trade, I used to spend a lot of time keeping up with all of the different eco friendly, sustainable, and fair trade apparel brands. I wrote blog posts about them and did a good bit of research on them. While it is still an interest of mine I’ve really just gotten to where I don’t shop nearly as much as I used to, I wouldn’t even consider myself fashionable at all anymore ha. I’ve just come to enjoy being outdoors more, reading different climate articles, and learning about the food industry and nutrition. So while I still prioritize purchasing from better companies and don’t really purchase anything that would be considered fast fashion it is not something I spend nearly as much time thinking about or learning about so it was nice to see a list with some brands that I wasn’t as familiar with.
