Hotel Three Sixty
Hotel Three Sixty Review: A scenic Boutique Getaway with jungle and ocean views
Looking for a relaxing and romantic long weekend escape that blends luxury, jungle views, and coastal beauty? Hotel Three Sixty in Ojochal, Costa Rica was exactly that for us—a peaceful, adults-only boutique hotel tucked high in the mountains of Puntarenas, with unbeatable sunsets and a vibe that made us feel like we were truly away from it all.
We booked this trip to celebrate our 5-year wedding anniversary. Our goal was a destination that was new, exciting, and relaxing—but still within a 3–4 hour direct flight from Denver, Colorado. After much research and back-and-forth, we landed on Hotel Three Sixty in Costa Rica, and I’m so glad we did.
Why We Chose Hotel Three Sixty
We were drawn to:
The panoramic views from the villas, pool, and dining area
The small, intimate vibe (just 12 rooms!)
The food reviews (spoiler alert: lived up to the hype)
The option to include roundtrip airport transportation in a couple’s package
The only hesitation we had was the drive time from the airport. The hotel is in a more remote area, and it’s about 3–5 hours from San José. But the included airport transfer in our package made it easy—we didn’t have to rent a car or worry about navigating unfamiliar roads. We flew in on a Wednesday and left on a Sunday, giving us four nights and three full days at the property. Even with travel time, it felt worth every minute.
First Impressions & Property Overview
From the moment we arrived, we felt like we were somewhere special. You’re welcomed by an open-air lobby with a soothing fountain, birds chirping, and jungle-meets-ocean views that instantly put us in vacation mode.
The best part? The pool.
The infinity pool at Hotel Three Sixty overlooks both the jungle and the coastline—a view we never got tired of. The restaurant and bar are right there as well, so you’re always soaking in the scenery while eating, lounging, or sipping drinks.
We stayed in one of the sunset premium villas with an ocean view (included in our package), but the entire property offers stunning views. With only 12 rooms total, it felt exclusive and peaceful without being pretentious.
Dining at Hotel Three Sixty
We ate most of our meals at the hotel’s restaurant and were consistently impressed. Non-guests can dine here but hotel guests get reservation priority.
Breakfast: The Traditional Costa Rican breakfast became our go-to, served with local fruit, fresh juice, and espresso drinks. It was the perfect start to each day.
Lunch: The fresh tuna tacos were unforgettable—I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve thought about them regularly since we got home.
Dinner: While not as standout as breakfast and lunch, the dinners were still very good. We also dined at Citrus, a nearby restaurant in Ojochal, which had a cool vibe and great food—though it was more expat-heavy than local.
Activities & Relaxation
We went into this trip with one goal: relax. While the hotel does offer excursions, we opted to stay on property most of the time—lounging by the pool, watching monkeys from our balcony, and getting massages at the on-site spa (highly recommend!).
We did take a taxi down to the beach one morning. Note: Hotel Three Sixty is not beachfront. The elevated mountain location gives you those epic views, but the beach requires a short drive and a little planning.
Getting There & Travel Tips
From Denver, there are direct flight options but we ended up connecting in Dallas to get the flight time option we wanted to San José. After landing, we used the hotel-arranged transportation included in our couple’s package. While driving yourself is possible, we found the included transfer to be stress-free—especially given the winding, dirt road up to the hotel.
If you're considering driving, be aware that:
Traffic out of San José can be heavy
The final stretch includes a steep road, which might feel tricky in the dark or rain
Is It Worth the Trip for a Long Weekend?
YES. We debated whether the long drive was worth it for a 4-night stay—and in our experience, it absolutely was. Anything less than that might have felt rushed, but for four nights or more, it’s totally doable. We left feeling relaxed, connected, and grateful we made the effort.
Couples Package: What’s Included
Hotel Three Sixty doesn’t usually operate as an all-inclusive resort, but they offer a couple’s package that was perfect for us. Ours included:
An upgraded ocean-view villa
Spa treatment
Most meals
Roundtrip airport transfers
It ended up being more cost-effective than booking everything separately, especially since we planned to do all those things anyway. The only downside was the strict cancellation policy, which made us a little nervous as parents of a toddler. Our workaround? We bought a “cancel for any reason” travel insurance policy through Seven Corners for peace of mind (added about $300 to the total trip cost).
Final Thoughts: Would We Go Back?
While we love trying new places, we’d absolutely recommend Hotel Three Sixty in Costa Rica for a romantic couple’s trip. It’s not kid-friendly (a plus for this trip!), and it’s perfect if you’re craving something peaceful, elevated, and a little off the beaten path.
Top highlights for us:
The incredible infinity pool
Traditional Costa Rican breakfasts
Those tuna tacos (!!)
Watching monkeys from our villa
Sunset views that felt unreal
