Design Inspiration from Mendoza

While I have a separate post about our two weeks in Chile and Argentina the majority of that is about the National Park, where we stayed and specific hikes throughout Patagonia. I don’t get into the details of our time in Mendoza

We stayed at a boutique hotel called Finca Adalgisa that is located pretty centrally in Mendoza. We originally planned to stay down in the Uco Valley so were a little disappointed when we had to switch and be more centrally located but we ended up loving this spot and the area it was in. They have vineyards on the property, have chickens running around the vineyards, and cook delicious meals that are paired with their wines in the restaurant. We even did a traditional Argentinian BBQ our first night there that was amazing! We had so much fun visiting with the others at dinner and enjoying the food and wine I didn’t capture a single photo!!

There were so many gorgeous spots around the hotel that I have an entire gallery below of the hotel as everywhere I looked I kept thinking design goals for sure.

While we could have been plenty happy just staying at our hotel we did venture out on two different full days of wine tastings.

The first day we stayed closer to Mendoza and did the Lujan de Cuyo

  • Lamadrid - tasted grapes directly from the vines, tasted with a well known som and learned about how swishing in your mouth makes the tannins have a greater impact and were tested on our ability to recognize scents, flavors and associated memories with each of the varieties we tasted.

  • Domaine St. Diego - a smaller family run vineyard only a few acres of grapes but delicious wines and fabulous olive oil.

  • Lunch at the restaurant Fogon at Lagarde Winery sitting directly in the vineyards. Did a 6 or 7 honestly can’t remember tasting menu for lunch. Tomato gazpacho soup and popsicles were a couple of our favorites but it was all great. We were so full from a big late lunch that we ended up canceling our dinner reservations and just did small plates at the hotel that night.

The second day we ventured further down towards the Uco Valley

Tasting room with a view at Anaia

  • Anaia was a fairly new vineyard that just opened for tastings within the last few weeks

  • Corazon Del Sol at the Vines where they were in the midst of harvest and we were able to see them sorting grapes and taste some wines directly from the barrels

  • Lunch at Andeluna with another 5 course tasting menu lunch overlooking the vineyards with the mountain the background.

We wrapped up our last night in Mendoza at La Gloria Cantina for dinner. This adorable restaurant was about a 10 minute walk from our hotel.
