About fifty-fifty

Everyday we make purchases for things we want or need.  Almost always when making a decision about a purchase we think about just one thing - what we need and what we are going to get out of the purchase.  How often do we think about what message we are sending by making that purchase, what we are supporting with that purchase, or any downstream impact of the purchase?  Not often.

Fifty-Fifty is a long running inside joke between my family.  It took two people to create every person on this planet and the person those two people created is half of each.  Many of our looks, traits, characteristics come from either our Mother or our Father.  And some days it may feel like you gravitate more towards one than the other but end of the day, everyone is 50/50 and traits of both.

Fifty-Fifty has been created as a way of thinking about a purchase being half what we need/want and half what impact that purchase has on others.  Half us - half others.  With every item showcased (or available for sale on the site) we promise that it will be stylish and relevant item that would meet your wants/needs but also that with that purchase you can feel confident that you are supporting something good.  For every item we will tag it with a logo meaning it falls into one of the following categories:

  • One for One Model
  • Ethically Made
  • Sustainability
  • Made in the USA
  • Local Artisians
  • Portion of Proceeds

This is a blog where I am sharing my journey of becoming a more socially conscious consumer and being more thoughtful in the purchases I make.  Our goal is to be a place where socially conscious customers are connected to brands whose products are making an impact through a comprehensive collection of stylish items.  Working from both ends of the supply chain for the betterment of the environment and others.  However, I don't claim to be perfect - not every single item I wear was ethically produced I am taking steps on a daily basis to move more in that direction each day.
